Salon Shear Genius Review and *Discount*

Sunday, yes you read that right, SUNDAY I had an appointment with Mindy at Salon Shear Genius in Thorndale to have a cut and color.  I assumed they were only opened on Sunday because of Valentine’s Day next weekend.  When I learned that this local salon is open EVERY single Sunday I was floored!  What a novel concept and so totally convenient for most of America, ha!

The salon is conveniently located across from the Kohls and Giant shopping center in Thorndale.  Parking is right in front of their door (great for cold winter days) and the receptionist desk is open, clean, and very welcoming with Michelle sitting there!

There was current and calming music playing in the background and the conversation was easy, natural, and flowing.  I felt relaxed as well as welcomed.  During my (almost) 2-hour visit, 4 clients had come and gone with the other stylist.  Everyone knew everyone’s name, family members, and basic life style.  It was like the Cheers of hair salons, such a comforting feeling.

I posted my photo on my personal Facebook page and had 3 friends comment right away that they also go to Salon Shear Genius!  It really is the local hot spot where people feel very comfortable at and trust the experienced stylist fully.  I love that!  It’s no wonder they have “Readers’ Choice” awards all over their waiting area!

When I sat down, Mindy asked what I wanted done to my hair.  I simply responded with “whatever you want to do”.  I get my hair done twice a year, I’m a simpleton.  As long as I can pull it back for the gym, I am open and receptive to whatever the professional thinks will look good!  Mindy just said “Uh, really?  Great!”  And went to down.  She spent time at the start to match my color and figure out what goes well with my skin tone and hair type.  Then at the end she spent an equal amount of time telling me what she did, what I can expect, and why she chose it.  I appreciated her information and attention to detail a lot!

So I ended up with a slight inverted long cut with a darker auburn color (close to my natural color) with tints on my former light brown highlights.  I feel like my hair looks SO healthy now!  I never realized how dull it was until I looked at this side-by-side shot of before and after.  The products they used smell heavenly too, not overly chemical scented.  I left feeling very excited about my new ‘do!
