Young Bones, Old Bones, Bones to Last a Lifetime (A Program for Men & Women)

May 9, 2012

6:30 – 8:00 pm

The Chester County Hospital, Mira Room

When you were a child, your mom might have told you to drink your milk to make your bones strong. Now that you’re an adult, do you still have bones? If you do, and you are not doing all you can to keep them strong, they might be getting weaker. You can’t feel your bones becoming weaker. You could have osteoporosis now or be at risk for it without realizing it.

In fact, by 2020 half of all Americans over 50 will have weak bones unless we make changes to our diet and lifestyle. As many as half of all women and a quarter of men older than 50 will break a bone due to osteoporosis.

It’s never too late or too early to improve your bone health. Strong bones begin in childhood. But with good habits and medical attention when needed, we can have strong bones throughout our lives.

Come learn what you can do right now to prevent osteoporosis and what treatment options are available if your bones lose their density. A physician will discuss bone density screening and medications, a physical therapist will show you how to maintain strong, healthy bones, and a registered dietitian will explain how diet and supplements can help keep your bones young.

This program is for men and women! Come for yourself, come for your children, come for your parents. The best way to prevent fractures in the future is to keep your bones strong today.

Presenters:

 Corazon Gemil, MD

 Kim Knipe, Registered Dietitian

 John Gose, PT MS OCS

The presentation is free. Dinner will be available in the hospital café for $5.85 – dinner includes an entrée, 2 sides, a fountain beverage and a dessert. This must be purchased by 6:15 as the program will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. You will be able to bring your meal with you into the presentation.

Presentation will be in the Mira Room.

Reservations required, call: 610-738-2300 or register on line at: www.chestercountyhospital.org/wellness
