Visiting Lancaster with Kids: Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square

By Shannon

This week we’ve been featuring all of the wonderful spots we toured as part of our recent overnight trip to Lancaster. After we spent a great day touring both the Strasburg Railroad and Cherry Crest Farm, we headed over to the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square to relax and get ready for another day of touring!

Just to recap, our itinerary for the 2 days looked like this:

Day1:
AM: Strasburg Railroad

PM: Cherry Crest Farm

Overnight Accommodations at the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square

Day 2:

AM: Choo Choo Barn

PM: Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania

After a wonderful, warm and FULL day of fun, my kids were ready to relax when we reached the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square. As soon as my children had heard that we’d be spending an evening in a hotel, they immediately requested that I check to see if the hotel had an indoor pool available. Once I confirmed that it did, they got their swimsuits together and ensured that I had packed them in our bag. They wanted to be certain that we made a visit to the pool at some point during our visit. Since it was August, we were really looking forward to cooling off after a hot day outdoors and an evening swim sounded like the perfect way to end the day. The pool did NOT disappoint. We had a wonderful evening swim together and headed back to our rooms to sleep off our fun day.

When we arrived in our room, we were all really excited about our beautiful accommodations in a corner Executive Suite. The room was so spacious and full of windows! My girls loved the view of downtown Lancaster we had from our room. See what we had to say in the video below!

I have to tell you that even with my squirmy toddler in bed with me, I got one of the best night’s sleep that I’ve had in a VERY long time in the Lancaster Marriott’s beds. I’ve actually thought of those comfy beds several times since our trip as I toss and turn on my not-so-comfy mattress here at home. In fact, maybe I will get a sitter for my kids and just take a “sleep the day away” vacation to the Lancaster Marriott… oh, doesn’t that sound heavenly :-)

When we woke up, I treated my girls to a “fancy” breakfast (room service)! They squealed in delight to have delicious breakfast foods delivered right to our door (that’s a luxury we don’t usually take advantage of, but I will say that I felt that their room service menu was competitively priced.)

After eating, an orange juice spill (sorry Lancaster Marriott staff) and getting cleaned up and dressed to go, we were ready to go to the next stop on our fun-filled agenda: The Choo Choo Barn. Stop back tomorrow to read all about this gem of a spot in Lancaster!

If you want to learn more about the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, please visit their website and connect with them on both Facebook and Twitter.

There is so much for families to see and do in the Lancaster area. We can’t wait to schedule our next trip!

*Disclosure: My family was provided free admission to the above attractions as well as overnight accommodations in order to facilitate this review. No other compensation was received and, as always, I’ll tell you the real deal about what my impressions and experiences are. All opinions are expressly my own.
