If you have never been to the workshops at Calista Grand… this is a great one for you to start with. Kate Ray is the Make up Manager at Calista Grand and she is AWESOME! I love her! She has taught me so much over the course of the workshops that I have taken at Calista.

For instance, I used to use sponge foundation applicators and I always had break outs, I would use more make up to cover up the break out – it was an endless cycle. At my first Make Up 101 Workshop with Kate she told me that using the make up sponge was like wiping my kitchen sponge on my face. Bacteria grows on the sponges that I was using on my clean face. Totally made sense! I started using brushes to apply my make up (Kate taught me how to clean them) and I am happy to say I have not had a break out problem since. I didn’t change anything but how I applied my make up. THIS is the stuff no-one ever me before the 101 classes and Kate is FULL of useful tidbits like this so I am always eager to hear what she has to say.

I don’t wear a lot of make up in the summer..most of the days I just throw on a little mascara and lippy and go, but there are days where I was to step it up a notch and I am attending the workshop because I need to learn how to apply make up in the summer and not look like a hot, sweaty, foundation streaky, sloppy mess. Are there steps in my routine that I can skip?
