For my daughters 9th birthday, she asked for us to visit a water park. Having a February birthday and wanting “summer-like” fun??? I expected this to be the challenge of all birthday challenges. BUT, Mama delivered thanks to Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor and Outdoor Waterpark!!!!
Just over the bridge in West Berlin, NJ, Sahara Sam’s offers a full day of entertainment, no matter what the weather is outside! For her birthday party, we had 10 children and 5 adults attend. The communications at Sahara Sam’s was stellar. We received email confirmations and a phone call in advance. They were patient and clear with their responses to any questions I had.
On the day of the party, we arrived to a VERY organized process of checking us in and leading us to the appropriate places. They certainly have a well-oiled machine there. Staff was kind, helpful, and looked like they enjoyed their jobs!
The party package included 2 hours in the water park. There was so much to do, the time flew by! Yet, everyone felt it was the perfect timespan because we had worked up an appetite for lunch, exhausted ourselves, tried everything out multiple times, and yet never got bored! My favorite waterslide was the Mount Kilimanjaro which held 3-4 people. It was the perfect speed, splash, and went in and out of the darkness. It elicited a TON of giggles from all of us!!!! The birthday girls favorite was that and the Snake Eyes, where she and a friend were able to ride the 2-person tube down the windy and speedy slide and end with a major splash! And other 2 girls loved the Congo Bongo Adventure River which was a relaxing and slow float along the river with a couple of waterfalls and fountains to splash you at random. My son, who wishes he could swim but can not yet, wore the safety vest that Sahara Sam’s provides to guests, could have “swam” all day in Cleopatra’s Cove leisure pool! It was the perfect temperature too.
When we were there, the Tim-Buk-Tu attraction was closed for renovation. We can’t wait to go back and experience that too! It appeared to be the perfect thing for those who don’t like the fast, enclosed water slides, yet want a little more adventure and excitement than just the River and Pool. Perfect for the 5 and under crew! And since the Birthday Girl received a free 1-year membership, we will SURELY be returning soon to experience it all again! We can’t wait to check the outside part of the park out over the summer months as well. Especially the wave pool!
After our 2-hour adventure in the water park we all changed into our clothes and then were escorted to our private party room for pizza and dessert. Our party host was super with the 10 kids (as well as the hungry and tired adults, ha). Our guest-of-honor was pleasantly surprised when Sahara Sam’s employees arrived singing “Happy Birthday” and giving her a large ice cream sundae!
Following the eating portion of the party, each child was given a $5 Arcade card where they played a few games, cashed in their electronic tickets (love that there’s no wasted paper!) for some prizes and then we gathered together to head back home. The “Perfect Splash” party package was a great value for the time we got and fun that was had!!! Seriously, we didn’t leave that place for almost 4 hours! I don’t know any other birthday party package that gives so much time for the dollar! We all had SUCH a blast!!! And, major parent bonus, we literally did nothing but drive there with the birthday cupcakes. It was SO NICE to be able to fully enjoy the water park and the festivities just like everyone else who attended the party!!!!
