I was JUST having this conversation with some mommy-friends the other day. Back when we were kids, our parents monitored our phone use by quietly picking up the corded phone and listening in on our conversations without us knowing. Today, what can parents do? The thought frightens me…. my child having access to a device that she likely knows more about than I do, not including all of the social media on it.
Well, the answer fell into my lap. KidGuard! KidGuard can be used for: 1) monitoring text messages, 2) monitoring phones or 3) monitoring your child(ren) via the GPS tracker. The GPS tracker can tell you where your child is in real time, plus where they’ve been! You can not only check on the text messages currently on their phone, you can look at the ones they delete. Also, if you don’t have a download protection password, you can count on KidGuard to tell you what apps your child is downloading onto their device. And when the teenage daughter tells you that “Billy” is just a friend, yet you can SEE she’s talked to him 8 times before dinner for a total of 3 hours… you know he’s not just a friend. Time to invite “friend Billy” to dinner so you can meet him face-to-face! You’d never have that info if not for KidGuard.
I will eventually have 3 daughters in high school at the same time. Thank you, I appreciate your cyber-support. All that KidGuard has to offer gives me somewhat of a sigh of relief. Besides what I’ve already mentioned, this is also a fantastic way to stay on top of issues like cyber-bullying and online predators since parents can “spy” on chats, phone logs, and text messages. I say “spy”, because your child has no idea that you are able to see all of these things on their device, unless you want to tell them. And while my one friend was saying she felt guilty being “sneaky”, my thoughts are that this felt like modern parenting. My job, as their mother, is to protect them and guide them until adulthood. I’m raising citizens, spouses, co-workers, neighbors, parents, friends- you get my point. Therefore, if there’s something that is impeding upon my job, then I want to know about it up front. I’m not a fan of damage control, more of damage prevention, and this allows for just that. KidGuard is safely allowing me to be in-the-know, real time, so I can guide and protect my “quad squad” as the needs arise. What a relief!
