Sunday we celebrated my oldest daughters 7th birthday at Rita’s Water Ice in Exton’s Eagleview Town Center. But it’s closed, you say? There’s trickery here, my friends! Since this is an indoors Rita’s, the amazing owners are open for private parties!
We had a Lego-themed party, but I wasn’t sure how to incorporate that in a package that included everything for an hour and a half fun party! So when the guests first arrived they did a “guess how many Legos” game and then sat down to put together their Lego mini-figure that they got to take home. Once everyone was present, the Rita’s hosts put aprons on each child and then had them line up to wash their hands and then enter the kitchen to make the large batch of water ice.
The birthday child gets to choose their favorite water ice flavor (mine chose Strawberry Lemonade, without the strawberry pieces). Once the children were in the back kitchen, they got to add an ingredient to the bucket and/or help mix the ingredients together to help make the water ice. Therefore each child actually helped MAKE the ice they ate for dessert! While the mixture chilled, they sat down to eat the pizza that was delivered (included in the party package) and drink the juice boxes (also included!). We then picked the winner of the Lego guessing game and gave her a coloring book. The few adults that were there (space is limited for just hanging out, so many parents took advantage of the location and went to Target, Wellington Bookstore, or Brickside Grille for the 90 minutes) helped serve the items we brought: water bottles, fruit tray, vegetable tray, and a pretzel nuggets tray. Once lunch was over, the children got to EAT the water ice! They were given the choice of a gelati (hello, how yummy to have that in mid-winter!?!?!), plain strawberry-lemonade water ice, or just vanilla custard. Everyone gobbled up their creation! And just as they finished, and the sugar high kicked in, IN WALKED “Ice Guy“!
Ice Guy was there to get the kids up and moving for a super fun dance party the last 20 minutes or so. Parents began to arrive while they were doing the Whip and Macarena and everyone left with a chocolate Lego topped cupcake for later.
The party was so smooth. I’m a control freak, there I said it, I have a LOT of trouble relinquishing control! But Debbie (owner) was a great communicator both via email and phone and I wasn’t at all worried about things. This was hands down one of THE best birthday parties I have thrown or even been to! It was so unique, and the two ladies that helped out at Rita’s that day were awesome and fun and sweet! Between the two of them, they knew every child’s name within the first 30 minutes. I was very impressed. VERY.
Be sure to contact Rita’s of Exton to host YOUR private party! And fear not, summer babies, they have a Rita’s TRUCK that comes right to your party with the goods! I smell an end-of-school year tradition in the neighborhood!!!!!
