Let me start with a funny story – my husband and I were out shopping for Christmas presents. He is about a foot taller than I am, while shopping he looked down at my head in the “Toys R Us” light and asked if I was painting earlier in the day. I said “no, why do you ask?”, he said, “it looks like you have white paint in your hair” – then lovingly tried to brush the “white paint” out of my hair. Sweet man, but..um, it wasn’t paint. It was GREY hair!!! A LOT of it! He felt awful once he realized.
Between the holidays, working part-time when my toddler is at pre-school, being sick, having sick kids home from school, Philly Burb Moms stuff, Elf Outfitters stuff, three kids, a husband that works all the time, maintaining my house and all the other craziness that consumes my life, my hair is out of control. I totally let it go! We are talking MONTHS without cut or color. Pony tails and messy buns were becoming my daily “style”. “Messy hair, don’t care” was becoming my new way of life…only thing, it’s not.
I do care!
I LOVE the feeling you have when you leave the salon. I love having my hair done. My “mom uniform” is yoga pants and a t-shirt and I rarely have time for make up, but having my hair done, somehow makes me feel better.
Finding time to get to the salon and scheduling a babysitter…it’s not the easiest for me. A weekday sitter is hard to come by, nights are devoted to homework and running kids to after school activities and Saturday – they are crazy days too! That leaves me Sunday, when my husband is home from work and can care for the kids. I always feel guilty about making hair appointments on Sunday though, because that’s our only real family day and I would rather spend it together doing something fun. Singing my sad tale of “hair blah woe” to a friend, she suggested that I try Concihairge. A full service salon that COMES TO YOUR HOUSE!!!
COMES TO YOUR HOUSE! WHAT????? … That’s right up my alley! I emailed right away, Stephanie responded quickly and my appointment was set. Set for a date and time that I didn’t need to move mountains or race home to meet a bus, to make it work. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was. I think I wrote that to her three times in my emails back and forth. I’m so excited!!!
Today was the day. I just finished up my appointment and I AM SO HAPPY, I needed to write this blog post right away, because I was writing it in my head throughout the whole appointment.
Concihairge is so awesome! In between chemical applications I helped my toddler with snacks, helped her with the potty and checked on my dogs. I got to relax and feel pampered in my kitchen. And I never feel relaxed or pampered in the kitchen! While I was getting my hair done, my daughter (age 3) watched TV and when her show ended she played salon with her Barbie Dolls – just a few feet away from me. Where she likes to be!
Stephanie, is the owner of Concihairge and she was my stylist. She is a mother of three, just like me. She is also a military wife. This woman gets whats it like to be pulled in a million different directions and not have time for yourself. She started her business as a way to make sure she had a flexible schedule for her family and still continue with a career that she loved. I love her story!
If you have a busy life and are trying to make everything work for everyone else, but don’t make time for YOU, then I absolutely recommend giving this a try. I am thrilled with my experience!! Thrilled!!! There are currently three stylists with Concihairge and they travel throughout Chester County and the Main Line Area. Booking an appointment was really easy! I booked my next appointment before Stephanie left. Keeping up with my hair won’t be something I put off now. THIS WORKS FOR ME! Concihairge works for me!
PS- this is not a paid ad/endorsement. I paid the full price for my services! Prices were the same that I normally pay at a salon, but the convenience of not having to leave the house, take time away from our family day or find a weekday babysitter…priceless!
