When was the last time you spent an evening chatting and having fun with your best girlfriends? If it’s been a while, you’re not alone! It’s not uncommon for moms to get overwhelmed with full schedules that don’t allow for quality time with friends. That is one reason that Maria Bailey founded National Mom’s Nite Out™ in 2008.
Did you know May 7, 2015 was this years National Moms’ Night Out? Just like the movie, it’s an excuse to take a break from our usual day-to-day life and treat ourselves to a night out with friends while our significant others watched the kiddos. Unlike the movie, there wasn’t any drama, just lots of laughter, therapeutic crafting, and yummy snacks!
I received a party kit from MomSelect to help me host a fun and memorable MNO last Thursday. In it were fun activities, recipe and craft ideas, and goodies from brands like HP, MyPrintly, Bicycle Playing Cards, Provident Films, Entenmann‘s, and more!
Thanks to the MyPrintly Wine Glass Painting Craft Pack each of us created a DIY take-home souvenir that we will most definitely put to good use! The red wine glass and fabric glittery puffy paint was a fun craft. We sat around a table and decorated our glasses while “oohing and aahhing” at how creative and artistic our friends were. From a Penn State logo to a peacock feather to an initial with dots around it, my girlfriends are quite imaginative!
While our glasses began to dry, we refilled our plates with the snacks and topped off our drink cups and then sat down to play a game. It’s like charades meets Taboo, Mommy style! Using a game that MomSelect created for the nights festivities, we had a list of celebrity mamas. We were only allowed to use 2 words or gestures to guess the name of the mom. It’s clear some of my friends study People Magazine while others may still be reading Cooking Light instead. It was fun and led us to some funny stories and topics!
We think for our next MNO we’ll put the Bicycle® Cocktail Party playing cards we each got as a favor to good use and have a girls only “Poker and Wine Night” using our new glasses too!
