My front door is for decoration, and Trick or Treating, essentially. Everyone enters through our laundry room/mud room. It’s for this reason that after 4years of living in our home, we decided to give it a major overhaul. The room stores our cleaning products, laundry needs, dog food and bowls, jackets, and “speed rack” of shoes. And it’s about 10 feet long and at the widest part, almost 6 1/2 feet wide, though with a 3 foot walk space because of the washer/dryer and sink. The room is shaped much like a urinal container, just to give you a nice visual of the wacky angle of this essential room.
During the estimate process we learned that prices varied, greatly, and ideas were never remotely the same. So my husband and I took the four suggestions we got, and created our own design that we felt would work best for us. Then randomly hired a fifth contractor based on a friends recommendation and how impressed we were with Quality Builders work on her basement. Plus, for the price, we got custom, Amish made poplar wood cabinetry. The downside, we had to paint them. But still, SO happy with the results!
The room is now crisp, cleaner, organized, and appears more spacious. Every person has a home for their belongings and can access it themselves. As a mom of three minis under age 5, I’m sure you can appreciate my excitement for independence!
