Support a Soldier & Save a tooth- Halloween Candy Buyback
The Briglia Dental Group is hosting the third annual Halloween Candy Buyback in an effort to provide candy to our U.S. troops overseas during the holidays while saving your children from a few cavities at the same time. This is how it works:
- Kids go trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
- The trick-or-treaters bring unopened candy to Briglia Dental Group’s office on November 4th or 5th from 2pm – 6pm.
- Dr. Briglia pays the kids $1 cash for every pound of candy they give (up to 5 lbs).
- All of the candy collected gets donated to Stockings for Soldiers and Operation Gratitude.
The best thing to do at Halloween is let our children enjoy one or two few pieces of candy in moderation to avoid a sugar overload. According to a recent report, “dental decay is the most common chronic childhood disease with more than 16 million kids suffering from untreated tooth decay in the U.S. The mouth is the gateway to a person’s overall health and an unhealthy mouth can be associated with obesity, diabetes and even heart disease. In the U.S., oral disease causes kids to miss 51 million school hours and their parents to lose 25 million work hours annually.

Dr. Ron has found a solution to overloading on Halloween candy sugars, while helping a good cause at the same time. The Halloween Buyback Program is designed as a win-win for parents, children and our troops overseas. Trick-or-Treaters keep a few pieces of their Halloween candy to enjoy and bring the excess into Dr. Briglia’s dental office to sell at $1 a pound (up to 5 lbs). The children will walk away with cash in their hands as well as goody bags filled with surprises and coupons from some of our favorite local merchants. Parents who bring their children in will have an opportunity to sign up for their raffle drawings of gift cards, restaurant coupons and other items donated by our local merchants. The Briglia Dental Group then sends all of the collected candy to Stockings for Soldiers (www.stockingsforsoldiers.org) and Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.com), both are organizations that put care packages together for our troops and ship them overseas to help make their holidays a little brighter.
“We know kids love candy, but all those sweets are a real hazard to their teeth,” says Dr. Briglia. “We are offering kids a chance to ditch their excess candy. They can still have all the fun of trick-or-treating, and now their piggy banks will benefit as well.” Kids are encouraged to write letters of thanks to our soldiers to let them know just how much they appreciate what they’re doing for our country. These letters can be brought in along with the candy they’re selling.
“Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost,” says Dr. Briglia.
All candy donations will be collected at Briglia Dental Group (Dr. Ron Briglia), Chester County Medical Bldg., 600 East Marshall Street, Suite 201, West Chester, PA. on Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5 from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm. All donated candy must be unopened and in its original wrapping.
