This Mother’s Day, treat your mother to a relaxing walk surrounded by spring blooms at Longwood Gardens, followed by a Mother’s Day Buffet lunch in the Ballroom in the Conservatory. Or, head to the 1906 restaurant for a menu highlighting local fruits, vegetables and meats while enjoying a view of the Main Fountain garden.
Stroll around the acre gardens filled with vibrant tulips and spring annuals like pot marigolds and snapdragons. Breathe in the woodsy freshness of Pierce woods while feasting on the Virginia blue bells, columbines, and foamflowers carpeting the ground. Head out to the meadow to hear the spring bird songs.
Even if the day turns to rain, take a stroll in the Conservatory with its heady odors of Zygopetalum Everspring ‘Noland van Daalen’ in the Orchid House. Don’t miss the containers of Geranium maderense, Madeira cranesbill, sitting in and reflecting from the pool of the Exhibition Hall or the Antirrhinum majus ‘Liberty Lavender’, snapdragons, Kalanchoe blossfeldiana ‘Kerinci’ and Schefflera ‘Soleil’ (Amate®) now making an appearance in the Main Conservatory.
If your mom already has plans for Sunday, meet her at Longwood on Friday, May 10th for National Public Garden Day. Birthplace of American horticultural, guests can also enjoy complimentary tours of the Main Fountain Garden, Italian Water Garden, and more. Every half hour from 11:00 am–3:00 pm, expert guides will share the history of Longwood Gardens and American horticultural.
