Wow… what a rocky road for Ashley this season (Bentley, the Roast, being made fun of for her looks, the bachelors wishing she were Emily…), but luckily we got to see her get her happy ending on Monday night.
Now while I will say, this definitely was not my favorite season of the Bachelor/Bachelorette series, I will say it was not Ashley’s fault. I felt awful for her in the beginning of the season, she really is adorable and sweet. I would watch and I wasn’t sure if the producers were out to get her or what??! I mean, a roast as one of their dates?? That just puts everyone involved in an awkward situation (or at least have the bachelors roast each other, not the girl they are trying to woo!)
So anyway, the final two came down to Ben and JP and it was time for both guys to meet the family!
Maybe Ashley’s sister, Chrystie had to make up for this finale not really being the “most shocking finale ever” but wow! I really thought she was kidding when she laid in on JP, I was waiting for her to start laughing and say “ha! I really had you going!” but no such thing ever happened, she had her sister in tears and then still dug into JP, not letting him even defend himself or get a word in edge wise. And then for the final blow… when she tells Ashley and JP, how she thought Ashley was even more herself with Brad…. Brad??! Dull, boring, cardboard Brad??!?
I can’t imagine JP ever forgiving her for that reaction. Did anyone else just sense the overwhelming jealousy that was behind this attack??
I was also unable to completely predict who Ashley would choose. I was thinking JP along the way, for awhile I was positive it was going to be JP, but there were many moments when I thought Ben, definitely Ben!
This does open the door up for Ben to be the next Bachelor, which I think would be a perfect role for him, would you like to see Ben as the next Bachelor??
Poor Ben, it really was heartbreaking to watch as he prepared to propose. He really was confident Ashley would say ‘Yes’. Then he went into how he lost his father, and after losing a family member now he would be adding a new one…. It was so upsetting. And then during the proposal…. as he got down on one knee, I was screaming at my TV, no!!!! Don’t let him fully get down on one knee!! (It was Reid all over again! who by the way, is a friend of mine….)
I did get choked up watching JP’s proposal. Maybe I am just a hopeless romantic, but I really like the two of them and I am really happy for them. Hopefully they can beat Bachelor odds and make it work. I think they just fit together.
Now for Bachelor Pad to begin, it starts Monday night, August 8th…..such an incredible car wreck of a show, I can’t wait!
