I have three weeks to prepare myself and more importantly, my nineteen month old toddler for a two-day cross-country road trip. Midwest, here we come! My husband and I are educators who have the luxury of summers off and have made it a priority to travel home to the midwest each summer, yet with the addition of our bundle of joy, I have a lot more to consider than just whether to eat lunch at Arby’s or Burger King.
The goal for the two day journey is a happy…okay…tolerable toddler. I am fighting the advice given by many to buy the portable DVD player, but it might be inevitable. I have not crossed it off the list, yet I am gathering items for the looooong car ride that might keep her interest when she is not yelling, napping or snacking.
I am hoping that my toddler will be just as interested in looking at photos of herself in a portable photo album as she is looking at photos on the computer. I am printing off many photos of her with people she loves and photos of her just being herself. I picked up some of those inexpensive, plastic photo albums at the local dollar store and filled them with photos. That should fill at least ten minutes each day!
