As I wrote that title, I got “All the Lilly Ladies, All the Lilly Ladies” stuck in my head as I hum it to the tune of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)”! That’s a fun little song. I know you are thinking “Gee, get out much, Shannon?” Clearly, not!
However, I was able to get out last week to a truly wonderful event to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Lilly Pulitzer store in Ardmore. There is just something about walking into a Lilly Pulitzer store, fresh with the bright fun signature colors reminiscent of their Palm Beach roots that makes you relax as your mind wanders to days spent on sandy beaches and evenings walking on moonlit docks.
The store was filled with Main Line Shoppers, Lilly brand enthusiasts, Lilly Pulitzer employees and staff from many different areas of the company (headquartered right here in King of Prussia!), and several area bloggers. It was a night filled with delicious food and drink, illuminating information about the brand, and of course, great clothes and accessories shopping!
Julie and I in the “Main Line Toile” dressing room. Beautiful!
One of my favorite parts of the evening was getting to talk with several of the print designers that work on designing the fabric prints for each new clothing season at Lilly. The process for bringing a design to life is fascinating and lots of creative energy goes into really matching clothing styles with clothing fabrics to make sure that Lilly is bringing you really wearable, beautiful pieces of clothing.
Throughout the event, the print designers actually took turns working on painting a large canvas print in the front of the store 2 at a time. They were doing this completely free-form without any sketches or drawings to follow. One of the designers told Julie that they all work together so well that they can feel each others energy and they just know what the other is going to paint. It was so cool to watch this process unfold.

About two-thirds of the way through
Ta-da! Look at that amazing collaboration!
I was in complete awe of that artwork. They were auctioning that canvas off to an event attendee that night but I haven’t heard from the folks at Lilly, so I’m thinking I wasn’t the winner! Another fun fact: See the designer on the right in the first two pictures in the one-shoulder dress? She was the designer of that print (back when they were doing the Spring 2011 collection) and now she gets to wear her designs. What a cool job that must be!
We had a great evening together and get ready to head back out into the rain
The new Ardmore store is right in Suburban Square and is a gorgeous shopping space (also hand decorated by the in-house print designers!) so go check out all that they have to offer! You can also find Lilly Pulitzer on the web, on Facebook and on Twitter!
In the meantime, the lovely Lilly ladies have given us a wonderful prize for one lucky reader. Look at this adorable beach tote, yoga mat and beach towel …. get ready for a stylin’ summer! All you need to do is fill out the form below and you’ll be entered to win. This contest will end on Sunday March 20th at 11:59pm. Good luck!
