While the honesty and truths that flow from the mouths of babes is quite abundant, the irrational thinking and behavior is pretty much equal if not more apparent.
With my almost 9 month old ‘crawling’ and getting into his sisters’ toys, the whining has escalated beyond what I ever imagined it could be (for a 2 year old anyway).
As I walk out of the kitchen this morning I find my daughter clutching her doll stroller and doll.
***To give you a visual of ‘clutching’ think of an older frail woman with a purse full of money walking through a bad section of city… that’s what I mean by clutching!***
So I ask, why in God’s name are you holding your stroller and doll like that? And in whiny girl fashion she says “because JW is gonna get it and eat it” I look up to see JW playing with one of his own toys…. seriously? Now granted he’s always going for her stuff and yes he puts everything in his mouth, but relax kid!
Next I’m trying to put her sneakers on and she’s reaching longingly for the stroller and doll again. Mind you JW is in another room crawling and playing. Then he starts crawling again(into the kitchen, not even near us); she hears him and seriously gets hysterical because “he’s gonna get my stuff”
And my personal favorite, whenever JT is just sitting on the floor hanging out and JW comes at her, she screams ‘He’s gonna eat me!!!’
Lordy, is this what I have to look forward to for the next few months as these two stake claim on toys and land? My mom says to wait for the first time they start fighting over me being their mom and who ‘had me first.’ Yikes!
I really do love them and they make me laugh but I’m pretty sure this phase will make me grayer than ever.
Thank goodness for her comic relief moment this morning as we drove home from One Fit Mama class I was rounding the bend of the turnpike ramp and I hear JT say ‘Ut oh Mommy, my drink fell’ I said ‘We’ll get it when we get home’ And her response…. “It fell because you were driving too fast” Man, I really hate when they are right! haha
Hoping I get more silly stuff in the next week, rather than the irrational talk 🙂 If you have a funny toddler story to share, please email me so I can post about it!
