Tomorrow is Election Day here in the state of Pennsylvania, and if you are like me, perhaps you have seen the multitudes of advertisements on television, received countless brochures in the mail and perhaps even been solicited over the phone by various candidates and their parties. But how much do you really know about the candidates vying for your vote tomorrow? I know that personally, I have become so overwhelmed by the ads and such, that I am a little tuned out; not that I will not do my civic duty and vote (I am a little geeky in that yes, I enjoy it and remember being sooo excited the first time I got to vote back home in NY and I still get happy when I find a West Wing rerun on tv!) but when push comes to shove, I am just not that well versed in who stands for what. In other words, I have no clue who I want or need to be my voice in government.
If you need a little help in making your decision ahead of the big day tomorrow, then look no further than this useful website provided by the League of Women Voters, Smart Voter. You simply can enter your zip code or address and will be able to get a listing of who is running for which positions, and then can click on a candidate’s name (if there is a hyperlink available) to find out a bit more about their party, their stance on the issues at hand, etc. It is a great tool and I know that once the kids are asleep tonight, I plan on sitting down with a warm drink to peruse my options.
Happy almost Election Day!
