Contact family members through Facebook. Start posting what you have. Other family members will become excited. Ask your family to post what photos they have. You will be amazed at how many pictures were really taken and by who has which photos! Use Facebook’s commenting feature to write comments. You can also take advantage of Facebook’s tagging feature. This way people can quickly and easily identify family members in photos. Tips for posting
Method 1: Use a scanner to scan the photos into your computer then upload them to Facebook. Be sure to lay the picture down as straight as possible. You can edit the picture before posting but if you just take an extra moment to lay the photo straight editing wont be necessary. Keep this fun and easy!
Method 2: Use a digital camera. Lay your photos down on the floor in front of a window or door. Don’t use your flash! Use natural light this is important to be able to capture the picture inits original form. Stand directly over the photo with your camera pointing straight toward the picture. By standing over top of the photo you will avoid taking the picture on a slant which distorts the photo. Gather information
At the next family gathering, picnic or reunion print a picture of each family member along with their name on a sheet of paper for other family members to write something about each person. Ask your family to describe each person in one to three words. Or write down a memory of each person that they would like to share. By using a white 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper you can easily scan this into your computer and add to any digital book. The double beauty is you captured not only the thoughts of your family but in their own handwriting!
By taking advantage of Facebook’s social networking abilities you will create so much energy and excitement! Any family will enjoy looking at old photos, reminiscing and telling stories about the family history.
As a way to help you and your family get started Scrapbook Digitally is running another Raffle for 200 pictures scanned for FREE. Don’t wait another day!
