Get Crafty – Watercolor Painting with Salt Texture

July 8, 2009 By Sarah F. Leave a Comment

Here’s a fun and inexpensive way to add “that extra touch” to your watercolor paintings – SALT. Yep- good old fashioned iodized table salt. Above is one of my watercolor paintings which has a great example of the salt texture.

Materials Needed:
Watercolor Paints
Watercolor Brush
Paper
Cup of Water
Paper Towel
Salt
Spoon (to sprinkle salt)

Instructions:
When the watercolor paint is still wet on the paper, sprinkle a *tiny* bit of salt on top. As the salt dries it creates a crackle-like texture. When the paper is completely dry, brush off any excess salt.
